national post irresponsible publishing hoax

Iranian-Canadian Human Rights Groups condemn National Post’s irresponsible publishing hoax as spread of hatred

Lies will not promote human rights

May 20, 2006

On May 19th, 2006, the “National Post” published an article with subtitle” A color code for Iran's 'infidels' that was bias and unfounded which is unethical for the editors of the newspaper.

In printing an erroneous article in a main page and website of a Canadian wide publication will hurt the main beliefs of Canada as a multicultural society and violate the laws defined as hate crime.

The article is somehow attempting to make the similarity between inhuman actions by Nazis to discriminate against Jews in Germany in 1935, which later lead into the genocide of Jews.

We request that Federal Prosecution review the published article in the National Post, which shocked so many Iranian-Canadians.

We, Iranian who immigrated to Canada due to systematic violation of Human Rights by the Iranian authorities, are victims of hatred and lack of dialogues and understanding by the government. We are also well aware of the disaster of the spread of hatred amongst minorities since the flame of the hatred will spread to every group of a country regardless of the belief and race.

We urge Human Right activists, freedom lovers and politicians to take a stand on the issue since it will go beyond the Iranian-Canadians’ Community to promote peace, democracy, Human Rights and understanding of the rights of other minorities by the Middle East’s Governments.

We urge media to follow the principles of journalism for transparency on the real news and flow of right information.
